NTM Card Identification

The NTM card exists in two forms; one uses an ACM1 adaptor, and the other is a single-card or "native" version.

The easiest way to differentiate NTM (B) cards from older, narrow-band NTMs is to look at the cards themselves. The older NTMs are those that have the ACMs attached to them. The new cards are IGX-only cards; they are a single unit.

Functionally they are identical, but their firmware is not interchangeable.

To determine if you have an NTM (B) card in your node, examine the output from the dspcds or dspcd command:

  • If it is an NTM (B), the output will read "NTM FHE." The letter "F" tells you that the card is an NTM (B).

  • Older NTMs (NTC=ACM1) will have the letter "E", or lower, as the first letter in the output.

Note: Return your older NTM (B) cards to Cisco to be reworked to NTM (C)s, as there are some known problems with NTM (B)s.

Refer to Distinguishing Between IGX FRM Models for further information.
