Product Overview
This chapter provides an overview of the Cisco 626. It also describes all general applications.

The Cisco 626 is an Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) modem for home connectivity to an ADSL service provider network over an Asynchronous Transfer Mode 25 Mbits per second (ATM25) physical layer. The Cisco 626 receives up to a maximum rate of 9.2 Mbps (downstream rate) and transmits up to a maximum rate of .832 Mbps (upstream rate). An ATM25 interface provides a connection to either a CPE router or an ATM25-equipped PC.

The following table describes the function of the connectors and switches on the Cisco 626 back panel. See Figure 1-2 for the location of the connectors described in the following table.

The Cisco 626 comes with 2 MB of Extended Data Out (EDO) DRAM implementing a 60 ns access time.
The Cisco 626 supports the following networked system management applications:
