Metreos Visual Designer

The Metreos Visual Designer is a visual integrated development environment (IDE) for rapid VoIP development. It enables developers from the data center (who may lack IP telephony development skills) to easily and rapidly develop applications that converge voice with enterprise applications and data, with little training and without learning the details of all the telephony protocols.

Developers use drag-and-drop techniques to visually construct applications containing communications business logic. Using this approach, VoIP development time for new applications is dramatically reduced to days or weeks instead of months.

Developer productivity is further improved by using the integrated debugging capabilities of the Metreos Visual Designer. Developers can visually watch an application execute and trace the various paths it takes. Furthermore, developers can inspect the state and content of variables and other items in the application helping to eliminate doubt as to the source of the problem.

In addition, applications developed using Metreos Visual Designer are far more maintainable than applications written using native protocols and standard developer tools. Digging through low-level C++ code to try to piece together the structure, logic and function of someone else's application code is a common problem in any enterprise development effort. The addition of complex and sometimes arcane IP telephony development protocols to the mix makes it a daunting task for even senior level software developers who are well versed in Web and database development. VoIP applications built with Metreos Visual Designer can be viewed and modified visually at a high level rather than digging down into the details of the protocol and low-level code.

VoIP Development Integration and Extensibility

In addition to the protocols currently abstracted by the Metreos Application Runtime, Metreos Visual Designer can be easily extended with additional protocols, or extended so that you can leverage proprietary back-end business systems in your applications.

Metreos Visual Designer also makes using web services in VoIP development projects easy. Simply point the designer to the desired web service, and it automatically populates your toolbox with the capabilities exposed by that web service.
