Problem Description
Thirty seven XC-VXL2.5G cards (see Serial Numbers list above) have been shipped with a hardware ID information in the Flash that has been programmed incorrectly.
These cards appear as XC-VXL10G's to a system when installed.
Background
The thirty seven cards with the serial number listed above were accidentally programed with the incorrect hardware ID information in the Flash.
The XC-VXL-10G Hardware ID has been programmed instead of the XC-VXL2.5G.
Problem Symptoms
These cards appear as XC-VXL10G's to a system when installed. They work in the ONS 15454E system without any traffic issue, however in case a card require a replacement in a running system, the platform expects an XC-VXL10G and not a XC-VXL2.5G.
Replacing one of these cards with a XC-VXL2.5G raises a MEA alarm on the slot and the replacement XC-VXL2.5G card does not boot.
Workaround/Solution
Cisco recommends to proactively replace in-service the XC-VXL2.5G cards with XC-VXL10G modules.
The card replacement will be handled as a regular card replacement and the customers will receive 10G replacement cards in place of the 2.5G modules with wrong Hardware ID they received.
