Problem Description
The issue arises when there is an XC10G card in slot 8 and an E100/E1000 card in slot 1. The TCC+ may appear that it loses contact with the E100/E1000 card and may reprovision these cards sporadically. The result can vary between a complete traffic loss and constant alarms.
The typical alarms that are seen on the CTC/TL1/SNMP interfaces are:
A 319 REPT EVT EQPT "ETHERBRIDGE:TOP-CHANGE,TC,,,,,,,:\"Ethernet Bridge Topology Change\","
or:
A 314 REPT EVT EQPT "ETHERBRIDGE:NEW-ROOT,TC,,,,,,:\"Ethernet Bridge Is New Root Of Spanning Tree\","
Background
This issue was observed when testing in the verification lab on multiple scenarios. The issue stems from an incorrect resistor attached to the input of the clock receiver. The defect has been detected and corrected on current cards.
Problem Symptom
Alarm messages on the TCC+ card are raised for a short time and then cleared.
Alarm messages raise and do not go away.
The TCC+ loses contact with the affected line cards as a result of reading an incorrect byte.
May have complete traffic loss.
Workaround/Solution
There is no workaround for this defect. As a result of this defect all affected assemblies that are, or will be, used in the configuration described in the Problem Description section will need to be returned for rework of the boards. The solution is to remove the two resistors on the bus clocks. Contact our Technical Assistance Center to initiate a Return Materials Authorization (RMA). This only affects customers with XC10G systems. These cards will then be a part of a card pool that is re-worked to the latest revision. These are then used to seed future customer requirements.
