All ONS 15454 Systems |
Systems running software Release 3.0.0, 3.0.1 or 3.0.2 |
Problem Description
A software memory leak issue has been identified on ONS 15454 nodes running software Release 3.0.0, 3.0.1, or 3.0.2.
Background
Each time Cisco Transport Controller (CTC) is opened and used, memory on the Timing, Communication, and Control Plus (TCC+) card is consumed. Memory is also consumed when new circuits are created. If the TCC+ memory capacity is fully consumed, the card will reset.
Problem Symptoms
If TCC+ memory is reduced to below 180,000 bytes, an alarm will be raised. The possible resulting alarms are the MEM-LOW indicating that the largest free block is less than 180,000 bytes, or MEM-GONE, which indicates that the largest free block is less than 80,000 bytes. If one of these alarms is received, the TCC+ should be reset.
Workaround/Solution
These memory alarm indications are raised when data generated by software operations is such that it is close to exceeding the memory capacity of the TCC+ card. If this alarm is raised for an ONS 15454 node running Release 3.0.0, 3.0.1 or 3.0.2, reset the active TCC+. This issue will be resolved in Release 3.0.3.
