Problem Description
This Field Notice introduces the General Availability (GA) of software maintenance release 2.0.1. Release 2.0.1 was initiated to introduce software maintenance enhancements to Release 2.0 and to introduce a limited number of customer requested features. The introduction of software maintenance enhancements were implemented to increase stability and quality to release 2.0 and all customers are recommended to replace Release 2.0 with Release 2.0.1.
Background
Release 2.0.1 introduces the following maintenance functionality to address deficiencies:

Transaction Language 1 (TL1) - Response to RTRV commands in accordance with GR-833 Autonomous Messages are now enclosed in (\. ) string in accordance with GR-833 Provisioning.

Deleting a VT1.5 circuit no longer has the potential to affect traffic on circuits in slot 1. Resolved lost loopbacks after system upgrades (Field Notice 5).

Protection Groups - Release 2.0 required cards in protection groups to be deleted in the highest numbered slot in the group before others. This issue is resolved in release 2.0.1.

Protection Groups - In Release 2.0, potential existed for traffic on a working card to be affected when adding cards to the protection group (Field Notice 5). This is resolved in release 2.0.1.

Synchronization (Synchronous Status Messaging (SSMs)) - Bits 1 through 4 of the S1 byte are now monitored in accordance with GR-253.

DS3XM (Transmux) - Inhibit loopbacks option has been added. Standing alarms on unequipped Virtual Tributaries (VTs) are now masked (Field Notice 6).

Interoperability - Resolved C2 byte payload mismatch for equipped nonspecific payload bit values. (Field Notice 9)

Problem Symptoms

Workaround/Solution
Upgrade system software to Release 2.0.1. Contact Cisco Systems Optical Transport TAC at (877) 323-7368 for copies of the 2.0.1 Upgrade Checklist procedure (Version 1.4). This procedure should be used in lieu of User Documentation procedures or previous versions of the Upgrade Checklist.
