Introduction

This article is one in a series to assist in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Cisco Small Business products (formerly Linksys Business Series).

Q. How can I configure the SPA3000?

A.

Note: This guide has been prepared with firmware 2.0.13, the current supported firmware release for NodePhone. If you are using an older firmware, the web configuration screen may not look the same as the images below. We recommend upgrading your SPA3000 to version 2.0.13, available from the Linksys website click here.

Finding the IP Address of the PSTN Gateway

Finding the IP address of the PSTN Gateway is necessary in order to access the PSTN Gateway's web-based utility.

There are two ways of finding the IP address of the PSTN Gateway:

  1. Finding the IP Address of the PSTN Gateway Using the IVR Analog System
  2. Finding the IP Address of the PSTN Gateway Using the DHCP Server

Finding the IP of the Address of the PSTN Gateway Using the IVR Analog System

Step 1:
Connect your SPA3000 to an ADSL router that is running on DHCP. The ADSL router will assign the SPA3000 and IP address.

Step 2:
To determine the IP address of the SPA, lift the phone handset and press the asterisk key (*) four times. When you hear the voice prompt saying "Configuration," press the following key combination "1-1-0-#." The voice prompt will then read the current IP address of the SPA3000.

Note: If the IVR system doesn't respond, try plugging in the PSTN line port to a working PSTN line and try again.

Accessing the Router's Web-Based Setup Page

Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.

Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP Address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys routers) then press [Enter].
