Cisco SC2200 Signaling Controller Software
Release 7.4(11) and Earlier End-of-Sale Announcement

Cisco Systems announces the end of sale (EOS) for the Cisco SC2200 Signaling Controller software releases 7.4(11) and earlier, with an effective date of June 1, 2002. Cisco customers will continue to receive Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) support for releases 4.2(x), 7.3(x), and 7.4(11) until May 1, 2003. After this date, all customers are expected to upgrade.

The Cisco SC2200 Signaling Controller Software Release 7.4(11) and earlier will no longer be orderable from Cisco.com or Cisco Marketplace beginning June 1, 2002. Cisco SC2200 Signaling Controller Software Release 7.4(11) and earlier will be replaced by releases 7.4(12) and the Cisco PGW 2200 PSTN Gateway Software Release 9.2(2). Service-affecting bugs discovered in the earlier releases will be fixed in a patch or later release of 7.4(x) and 9.2(x). Cisco recommends that customers begin planning for the upgrade as soon as possible.


Note The Cisco SC2200 Signaling Controller will be renamed the Cisco PGW 2200 PSTN Gateway for Release 9.2(x) and later. All of the existing functionality of the Cisco SC2200 will be combined with the new functionality in Release 9.2(x) in the Cisco PGW 2200.

Note This announcement defines the End of Sale/End of Engineering of the Cisco SC2200 Signaling Controller Software only. Customers upgrading to new releases of the Cisco SC2200 Signaling Controller Software will require the appropriate complementary Cisco IOS Software releases on the Cisco Signaling Link Terminal, voice gateway, and/or access server.

Customers with current Cisco Software Application Support (SAS) service contracts on the Cisco SC2200 may receive a free upgrade to Release 7.4(12) through the online ordering tools on Cisco.com. Customers interested in upgrading to Cisco PGW 2200 PSTN Gateway Software Release 9.2(x) and later may purchase upgrade licenses through the online ordering tools on Cisco.com (Table 3).

Definitions

  • EOS—After this milestone date, the Cisco SC2200 Software Release 7.4.11 and earlier will no longer be orderable and will be removed from Cisco.com.

  • Discontinue contracts renewal—The milestone date after which no maintenance contracts will be renewed.

  • End of maintenance—The milestone date after which no maintenance releases will be produced for the major release.

  • EOE—After this milestone date the software release is no longer supported by the business unit and Cisco TAC. All product enhancements will be migrated into a newer release.
