Components and Software Installed by the Cisco Unity Platform Configuration Discs and the Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant

This document lists the Microsoft Windows components and other software that are installed by the Cisco Unity Platform Configuration discs and by using the Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant. It contains the following sections:
Installers use the Cisco Unity Platform Configuration discs to install the operating system on a Cisco Unity server purchased from Cisco. (On a server that was not purchased from Cisco, installers use the manufacturer's guided system-setup utility and a retail Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server disc to install the operating system.)
After the operating system is installed, the Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant (called the Cisco Unity System Preparation Assistant prior to Cisco Unity 8.0) guides the installer through the installation of any additional Windows components, Microsoft service packs and updates, and other software. The Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant is included in the Cisco Unity disc set.
The Platform Configuration discs and the Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant install only the required software and components, and the service packs that were recommended for use with Cisco Unity at the time they were released. When you install Cisco Unity, refer to the following documentation to determine the recommended updates and whether any later service packs have been recommended:

The Cisco Unity Service Packs DVDs (available in English, French, German, and Japanese) can be downloaded from http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/pub/Redirect.x?mdfid=278875240 (expand Unified Communications Applications > Voice Mail and Unified Messaging > Cisco Unity, then browse to the applicable version download page).
Platform Configuration Discs

Platform Configuration discs are shipped with all Cisco Unity servers purchased from Cisco. They are image discs that automatically install Windows, required operating system components, and other required software. For all servers, the part number is UNITY-SYSDISK.
Note Platform Configuration discs are not shipped with Cisco Unity application software.
Platform Configuration discs are updated as Cisco Unity requirements change. Although Cisco Unity servers come from more than one manufacturer, all discs of the same revision install the same Windows components and other software, except hardware device drivers. The hardware device drivers included on the Platform Configuration discs are specific to the hardware shipped with the Cisco Unity server. Do not use Platform Configuration discs to install software on a server other than the server with which the discs were shipped.
Note the following considerations regarding Platform Configuration discs:
•Platform Configuration discs are available only in U.S. English. To install the operating system in French, German, or Japanese, use a localized Windows disc and the manufacturer's guided system-setup utility. (Refer to the Installation Guide for Cisco Unity for instructions on using the manufacturer's guided system-setup utility.)
•Platform Configuration discs install only required software and components, and the Windows service pack that was recommended for use with Cisco Unity at the time the Platform Configuration discs were released.
•The Platform Configuration discs do not install Microsoft SQL Server, or the currently recommended SQL Server service pack.
•Cisco Unity software, Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Administrator, IBM Lotus Domino, IBM Lotus Domino Unified Communications (DUC) for Cisco, and IBM Lotus Notes are not included on the Platform Configuration discs. (Refer to the Installation Guide for Cisco Unity to install all software and to configure the system.)

Note the following considerations regarding the Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant:
•The Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant installs only required software and components, and the service packs recommended at the time the corresponding version of Cisco Unity was released. (No Exchange service pack is installed because Exchange software has not been installed when the Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant is run.)
•The Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant guides the installer through the installation of the applicable version of SQL Server and the service pack recommended at the time that the corresponding version of Cisco Unity was released.
•Cisco Unity software, Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Administrator, IBM Lotus Domino, IBM Lotus Domino Unified Communications (DUC) for Cisco, and IBM Lotus Notes are not included in the Cisco Unity System Setup Assistant. (Refer to the Installation Guide for Cisco Unity to install all software and to configure the system.)
