The Cisco solution

Consistent architecture and design

Cisco will help design the networks and automate deployment across all venues, while adapting to each site’s constraints. Working with partners, Cisco will install new infrastructure—routers, switches, and wireless access points—to create a consistent, high-performance network overlay. Cisco SD-WAN will play a critical role in connecting these venues, enabling centralized policy enforcement, segmentation, and routing across the distributed environment.

The challenge

Modernize existing venues

The LA28 Games will rely on existing venues rather than newly constructed permanent facilities. This means Cisco must deploy networks across 40+ locations throughout the LA region. Each venue contains its own mix of modern infrastructure, legacy systems, and physical constraints. The challenge: Bring these diverse environments into the AI era and create a cohesive networking infrastructure.

The challenge

One Games, many networks

The LA28 Games will not run on a single network but rather an ecosystem of interconnected networks. These include networks for timing and scoring, broadcasting, venue operations, media and press, and more. Geographic diversity is an additional complication, with networks dispersed across the LA region. How do you manage everything consistently and without dozens of fragmented tools, dashboards, and interfaces?

The Cisco solution

Centralized control

We’ll centralize control with a networking management environment, where traffic from venues and PoPs is routed, inspected, and optimized, especially for access to cloud and SaaS applications. Cisco AI agents will help drive operations at the PoP level to enable real-time automation and optimization. Networks will respond quickly to changing conditions while maintaining consistent policy and performance across venues.

The Cisco solution

Unified network visibility

We’ll deploy a unified, centrally managed, AI-powered network visibility platform that delivers a single, comprehensive view across all networks and infrastructure. With end-to-end monitoring, real-time insights, and intelligent data correlation, IT teams will be able to quickly identify root causes, resolve issues faster, and maintain exceptional performance and digital resilience throughout the LA28 Games.

The challenge

Achieve total network visibility

To prevent issues and troubleshoot rapidly during the Games, IT teams will require end-to-end visibility across all distributed networks. This includes both owned and unowned networks—from Cisco SD-WAN to the 5G network for spectators. If visibility gaps remain, networking teams could lose critical hours searching for the source of an issue.

The challenge

World-class network protection

Protecting vital networks across the LA28 Games requires advanced secure networking and threat intelligence solutions to thwart bad actors. No single technology partner of the LA28 Games is responsible for digital safety and security: It’s a team effort by design.

The Cisco solution

Close collaboration with IT and security partners

As the Official Network Equipment Partner, Cisco will collaborate closely with other official LA28 technology partners—such as Deloitte, Google, CDW, and AECOM—to maintain a safe and secure digital environment. Cisco excels at multi-vendor partnerships that deliver superior outcomes. Our secure networking equipment and AI-powered network visibility solutions will play critical roles in maintaining exceptional network security at the Games.

Cisco’s Purpose: Powering an inclusive future for all

Cisco will positively impact the city of Los Angeles and people across the region, delivering benefits long after the Closing Ceremony of the LA28 Games.

Community resilience

Cisco has unveiled free community Wi-Fi in strategic areas of the city, in partnership with the City of Los Angeles and LA nonprofits. We’re bolstering LA’s public infrastructure and furthering opportunities for employment, education, and community engagement.

Workforce development

With the Games as a beacon for inspiration, the Cisco Networking Academy will offer training and hands-on learning experiences to thousands of students. Cisco has 50 active academies in the LA area and has already supported 35,000+ people across the region.

Sustainability and resilience

Cisco will contribute to the goals outlined in LA28’s Impact and Sustainability Plan. From adapting existing infrastructure to conserving resources, Cisco and LA28 will showcase how the Games can act as a catalyst for stronger, more resilient communities.
