Cisco Modeling Labs is our premier platform for network simulation. With an easy-to-use HTML5 UI and a comprehensive API, Cisco Modeling Labs makes it fun to design, test, troubleshoot, and learn.
Practice real-world networking scenarios, using real-world tools
Cisco Modeling Labs
Cisco Modeling Labs is an on-premises network simulation tool that runs on workstations and servers and allows you to quickly and easily simulate Cisco or multi-vendor networks.
Cost-effective
Compared to building out, maintaining, and upgrading real-world labs, Cisco Modeling labs returns results faster, more easily, and for a fraction of the cost, giving you access to real VM images. Plus, you’ll save time and effort in finding compatible and authorized images for Cisco network operating systems, such as IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS, and IOS-XR.
Scability and flexbility
Test a variety of network scenarios, from small office networks to large enterprise environments, while having the flexibility to adapt your simulated networks to accommodate new requirements or changes in design.
Reduce risk
Test network configurations in a simulated environment before deploying them in a live network to reduce the risk of causing disruptions or outages.
Hands-on learning
The platform provides a realistic environment for practicing configuration and troubleshooting tasks, which is invaluable for hands-on learning and certification preparation.
Life is good when you can lab from anywhere
Smart annotations
You can now quickly create organized topologies. In addition to using existing annotations, such as boxes, ellipses, and text, you now have the ability to automatically create smart annotations based on user-defined tags.
Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) enablement
Access Firepower Threat Defense virtual (FTDv) and Firepower Management Center virtual (FMCv) out of the box. You can now download and use the reference platforms for FTD and FMC as part of the supplemental reference platform ISO. This new node type is available to all CML license tiers, except free tier.
Custom MAC address
Custom MAC addresses allow for more predictable labs and functionality. For example, some nodes use licensing that’s tied to a MAC address. Knowing the MAC address ahead of time allows for pre-generation and reuse of licensing.
LDAP improvements
Now CML admins can map lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) groups to CML groups, so users get the right access the first time they log in to CML. (For Enterprise and Education only)
