Introducing the new CCIE Service Provider certification

New exams go live on February 24, 2020

Achieving CCIE Service Provider certification proves your skills with complex service provider solutions. To earn CCIE Service Provider certification, you pass two exams: a qualifying exam that covers core service provider technologies, and a hands-on lab exam that covers service provider technologies through the entire network lifecycle, from designing and deploying to operating and optimizing.

The new CCIE Service Provider certification program prepares you for today’s expert-level job roles in service provider technologies. CCIE Service Provider now includes automation and programmability to help you scale your service provider infrastructure.

One of the industry’s most respected certifications, CCIE distinguishes you as a technical leader.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for CCIE Service Provider, but you should have a thorough understanding of the exam topics before taking the exam.

CCIE candidates are recommended to have five to seven years of experience with designing, deploying, operating and optimizing service provider technologies and solutions prior to taking the exam.

Exams and recommended training

To earn CCIE Service Provider, you pass two exams: a qualifying exam and hands-on lab exam:

Step 1: Pass the qualifying exam

Implementing and Operating Cisco Service Provider Network Core Technologies (SPCOR 350-501)

The qualifying exam, Implementing and Operating Cisco Service Provider Network Core Technologies, focuses on your knowledge of service provider infrastructure.

The qualifying exam earns a specialist certification, so you can get recognized for your accomplishments along the way.

Step 2: Pass the lab exam

CCIE Service Provider v5.0

This 8-hour hands-on lab exam covers the end-to-end lifecycle of complex service provider networks, from designing and deploying to operating and optimizing.

Migrating to the new program

On February 24, 2020, the new CCIE Service Provider certification v5.0 will replace the current CCIE Service Provider v4.1.

If you have started working toward the current CCIE Service Provider certification, keep going. In the new program, you’ll receive credit for work you’ve completed in the current certification.

  • If you pass the current CCIE Service Provider v4.1 written exam before February 24, you will be eligible to take the new CCIE Service Provider v5.0 lab exam after February 24.
  • After February 24, the CCIE Service Provider written exam, will be replaced with SPCOR 350-501. After you pass SPCOR 350-501, you will earn the Cisco Certified Specialist - Service Provider Core certification.
  • If you complete the entire CCIE Service Provider certification before February 24, then as of February 24, you’ll maintain your CCIE Service Provider certification as per the new recertification guidelines, and you will also receive the Cisco Certified Specialist - Service Provider Core certification.

Recertification

CCIE Service Provider certification is valid for three years.
