Centrally managed, multilocation broadcast over WAN demonstrates business agility.

To respond to a competitor’s series of product announcements, Cisco wanted to produce a live event for its global salesforce quickly. Ordinarily, presenters needed to travel to a Cisco Media Network studio to participate in a live event. To avoid delays and save on the expense of satellite provisioning, Cisco IT used its WAN to transmit signals from the event to the central studio and from the studio to viewers worldwide, using intranet and Internet VPN connections.

This streaming video case study describes how Cisco IT produced a centrally managed, live streaming event with multiple presenters in different geographic locations, and the business benefits derived from this deployment, including:

  • Increased executive productivity
  • Reduced production costs
  • Potential revenue increase
