Problem Description
Misuse of the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7920 may result in damage and voiding of the warranty.
Background
The Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7920 can be damaged by use of unauthorized "stick-on" belt clips.
The Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7920 can be damaged by cleaning the device with anything except a dry, clean cloth.
Problem Symptoms
Use of an unauthorized "stick-on" belt clip may cause damage to the battery and may cause personal injury to the phone user.

The above picture shows an extreme case in which an unauthorized stick-on clip (labeled "Hook") caused the battery case to split open, resulting in the internal spring shorting out the internal battery leads. The spring developed enough heat to melt the plastic cover. If you are wearing the CP-7920 on your belt when the battery fails in this fashion, you may be burned.
Unauthorized cleaning procedures may result in a damaged Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone.

The above image shows contamination on the cable that connects the 7920 LCD to the printed circuit board. The contamination was found to be a cleaning solution. The LCD failed to operate on this particular unit. However, the symptoms caused by use of cleaning solutions will vary depending on where the contaminant makes contact with the circuitry. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, inoperable keypad buttons, poor or no audio in the ear speaker, static and inability to authenticate to the Access Point.
