Problem Description

WS-X6148-FE-SFP Line Cards may fail to boot up in IOS versions 12.2(18)SXF or 12.2(18)SXF1.

Background

This problem is due to a timing problem in the module initialization routine of IOS that may prevent WS-X6148-FE-SFP from coming online. This issue only exists in IOS. CatOS is not affected by this software defect.

Problem Symptoms

Customers may experience error messages similar to the following, while trying to boot up WS-X6148-FE-SFP line card:

Workaround/Solution
