Introduction

This document provides the steps needed to activate and log in to the Cisco Broadband Operating System/NetSpeed Operating System (CBOS/NSOS) Web Management Interface. There are two sets of instructions, one set is for CBOS version 2.0 and the second set is for NSOS version 1.40. Follow the instructions that correspond to your version of the software.

Log In to the CBOS 2.0 Web Management Interface

Complete these steps:

  1. Log in to CBOS using either a serial or Telnet interface.

  2. Enter the user name exec or enable and press Enter to bypass the initial password if you have not yet created a password. If you have already created a password, proceed to step 6.

  3. To set a new password for the exec login, use this syntax:

    cbos>set password exec new-password
     
  4. To set a new password for the enable login, use this syntax:

    cbos>set password enable new-password
     
  5. To save the new password, issue the write command:

    cbos>write
    
  6. Enable the Web Management Interface by issuing the set web enabled command:

    cbos>set web enabled
    
  7. Launch your preferred web browser.

  8. Enter the IP address of the Cisco 67x Web Management page in the browser Location field. For example, use http://10.0.0.1/ rather than http://www.cisco.com. This screen appears:

  9. Log in using exec or enable as the username. Use your exec or enable password based on the identity that you log in as.

  10. Once the Web Management Interface home page appears, add a bookmark in your browser for the new Cisco 67x location. Once the bookmark has been added, activate the bookmark to access the Web Management Interface.

Log In to the NSOS 1.4 Web Management Interface

Complete these steps.

  1. Log in to NSOS using either a serial or Telnet interface.

  2. Enter the user name root or user and press Enter to bypass the initial password if you have not yet created a password. If you have already created a password, proceed to step 6.

  3. To set a new password for the root login, use this syntax:

    nsos>set password root new-password
     
  4. To set a new password for the user login, use this syntax:

    nsos>set password user new-password
     
  5. To save the new password, issue the write command:

    nsos>write
    
  6. Enable the Web Management Interface by issuing the set web enabled command:

    nsos>set web enabled
    
  7. Launch your preferred web browser.

  8. Enter the IP address of the Cisco 67x Web Management page in the browser Location field. For example, use http://10.0.0.1/ rather than http://www.cisco.com. This screen appears:

  9. Log in using root or user as the username. Use your root or user password based on the identity that you log in as.
