Monetize and Optimize Service Provider Networks

Cisco Quantum, a new mobility software suite, addresses two important concerns of service providers—finding new monetization opportunities while optimizing networks for the fullest utilization. Cisco Quantum allows for an increase of service velocity, quickly facilitating multiple service scenarios, while also focusing on simple access and correlation of intelligence from various points of the network.

Features and Capabilities

The Cisco Quantum suite comprises several components, each listed below.

Cisco Quantum Network Abstraction Suite

This suite provides a real-time network abstraction layer that provides network data collection and aggregation and orchestration to augment information in all decision processes.

It helps service providers quickly create and modify use cases for monetization while optimizing network costs. It can introduce new business models by exposing network capabilities and information with SLAs to third-party application and content providers. Examples include indoor location, premium video, and sponsored data services.

Cisco Quantum Policy Suite

This suite provides a next-generation policy management solution to help service providers scale, control, monetize, and personalize any service on any type of network. It does so through a flexible, interactive architecture that supports application-centric policy capabilities. You can also control policy and manage services across mobile, fixed, and Wi-Fi broadband networks.

Cisco Quantum Analytics Suite

Business and network analytics capabilities can enable both historical trend and real-time predictive policy decisions. This suite includes dashboards for data visualization, and programmable interfaces to create system alerts in conjunction with policy. It includes indoor location analytics such as foot-fall, dwell-time, and more.

Cisco Quantum RAN Optimization Suite

Service provider mobile investment is shifting away from Macrocell-only networks to heterogeneous networks (macro and small cells such as Wi-Fi, 3G, or LTE.) The size and complexity of these networks would necessitate self-optimizing networks and a move to live and automatic optimization in the radio access portion of the network. This Quantum Suite addresses this pressing need, allowing service providers to maintain control, and benefit with major network investment savings for both operating and capital expenditures.

The Cisco suite provides:

• Real-time, dynamic automated performance and capacity optimization for mobile radio access networks (RAN)
• Support for 3G Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS) Macro Cell RAN with LTE
• Automatic neighbor relations to monitor connections between cell sites, and to adjust neighbor lists for subscriber handoff; this helps to ensure overloaded cells are bypassed and unused cells are removed from neighbor lists to reduce costs
• Load balancing to shift traffic between cells based on availability, congestion, and blocking of radio resources; traffic within a cluster of cell sites is evenly balanced across all access technologies

Cisco Quantum WAN Orchestration Suite
