Cisco announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Select Cisco Catalyst 4500E Series Chassis. The last day to order the affected product(s) is April 16, 2013. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in Table 1.
Six months after the end-of-life announcement, the price of the Cisco 4500E Series Chassis listed in this announcement may increase 15 percent in order to accommodate the fluctuating component costs for these products. The replacement chassis are better than the end-of-sale products, and their prices are equivalent or lower.

Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco Catalyst 4500E Series R-E chassis is the Cisco Catalyst 4500E Series R+E chassis. Product number WS-C4507R-E is replaced by WS-C4507R+E, which increases the bandwidth per slot from 24 Gbps to 48 Gbps. Customers can migrate any of the existing line cards in the WS-C4507R-E chassis to the new WS-C4507R+E chassis with full backward compatibility.
The WS-C4507RES6L-96V+ bundle that contains the obsolete WS-C4507R-E is replaced by WS-C4507RES6L+96V+, which provides 48 Gbps per slot with the full line card backward compatibility. The WS-C4510R-E is replaced by WS-C4510R+E, which increases the bandwidth per slot from 24 Gbps to 48 Gbps. Customers can migrate any of the existing line cards in the WS-C4510R-E chassis to the new WS-C4510R+E chassis with full backward compatibility.
The WS-C4510RE-S6-96V+ bundle that contains the obsolete WS-C4510R-E chassis is replaced by the latest WS-C4510RE-S7+96V+ bundle, which includes the Supervisor Engine 7-E and WS-C4510R+E chassis. Customers can benefit from the rich features provided by the Supervisor Engine 7-E and higher bandwidth per slot from the WS-C4510R+E chassis.
