Mobile Content Billing for Differentiated Services
Mobile content billing helps mobile operators build revenue through the diverse range of services on their 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile networks, including streaming video,  mobile web, and social networking applications. The Cisco Mobile Content Billing solution is based on the following features of the Cisco Content Service Gateway (CSG2):

  • Charging
  • Content inspection
  • Credit limit enforcement
  • subscriber and application awareness

The CSG2 is available separately or as part of the Cisco Enhanced Gateway GPRS Support Node (eGGSN).

Cisco Mobile Content Billing provides:

  • Dynamic examination and collection of content to determine its nature and usage
  • Control of subscriber service access
  • Enforcement of subscriber account balances
  • The ability to offer and modify differentiated pricing for services

The Cisco Mobile Content Billing solution distinguishes between content types, so mobile operators can offer value-added content and services. With Cisco Mobile Content Billing, mobile operators can introduce billing plans that make services more attractive or profitable, including charging by:

  • Data volume
  • Session duration
  • Time of day
  • Quality of service
  • Pre-paid or post-paid calls
  • Bill back to content providers for advertisements
