For those charged with information security, such as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), this report will educate you on the state of your profession as it relates to keeping your organizations safe.

What we cover in the latest report

In our February 2019 Threat Report, our cybersecurity experts analyzed prominent threats of the past year for clues to new attack strategies and targets. It's as close as we can get to anticipating future trends without a crystal ball.

Don't underestimate modular malware

Emotet and VPNFilter could deliver an on-demand menu of attacks and threats, depending on which device is infected and the intended goal of the attacker. We saw plenty of these threats in 2018 and wouldn't be surprised if we see more in the future.

Secure your email

Email remains the favorite delivery method of attackers. Two of the biggest threats we highlighted in the report, cryptomining and Emotet, used email to spread. It’s also highly likely that other prominent threats, like unauthorized mobile device management (MDM) used it as well. We cover these threats and email security best practices.

Destruction, incoming

Some attackers just want to watch the world burn. We saw a number of these threats this last year, but most notably the attack whose sole purpose appears to have been to disrupt the Winter Olympics. We dive into this attack and what it tells us about future trends.

New Challenges

Stop threats at the edge

Digital businesses can stay focused with a next-generation firewall (NGFW) with Cisco Advanced Malware Protection. Adding Cisco Email Security makes network protection even more effective.

Protect users where they are

Only 75 percent of workers stay on a corporate network. Protect them everywhere they go with Cisco AMP for Endpoints and Cisco Umbrella working in harmony.

Stop threats faster

The network is the most powerful foundation for an organization’s security. Cisco Stealthwatch Enterprise and Cisco ISE work together with the network to provide powerful, highly secure access; automated threat detection; and software-defined segmentation. They can even detect encrypted threats.

Cisco Umbrella

Protect against threats when users are off the VPN—without needing to deploy another agent.

Network visibility and security analytics

Cisco Stealthwatch uses NetFlow to provide visibility across the network, data center, branch offices, and cloud. Its advanced security analytics uncover stealthy attacks on the extended network.

Cisco Secure Data Center

Modern data centers need a new security approach.

Uncover the 1% with next-generation endpoint security

Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) for Endpoints prevents threats at point of entry, then continuously tracks every file it lets onto your endpoints. AMP can uncover even the most advanced threats, including fileless malware and ransomware.

100% cloud-managed security

The industry's first secure Internet gateway in the cloud, Cisco Umbrella provides the first line of defense against cyberthreats.
