Information About Server Compatibility
The servers running the Cisco Nexus 1000V VSM and Virtual Ethernet Module (VEM) must be in the Windows server catalog. For information on the Windows server catalog, see http://windowsservercatalog.com/ .
The Cisco Nexus 1000V is compatible with any upstream physical access layer switch that is Ethernet standard compliant, including Catalyst 6500 series switches, Cisco Nexus switches, and switches from other network vendors.
Cisco Nexus 1000V Software Release Compatibility
Table 1 shows the software compatibility for Cisco Nexus 1000V, Release 5.2(1)SM1(5.2a) that is supported by Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) releases.

Identifying the Version Number for SCVMM
To obtain the version number for SCVMM, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Open the SCVMM R2 console.
Step 2 On the top left ribbon menu, click About.
Step 3 The version displayed should be 3.2.7510.0
Step 4 (Optional) Click the PowerShell icon and enter the Get-SCVMMServer -ComputerName scvmm_server _name ProductVersion command in the PowerShell window.
