Managing Resource Pools

VTS enables you to define global and device local resource pools so that the resources can be allocated when VMs or tenants are added.

You can define the multicast addresses that can be allocated sequentially for VXLAN tunnel creation so that you do not have to manage them separately. You can define the multicast addresses as global resource pool. These multicast addresses will be allocated sequentially when new VXLAN tunnels are created. Network administrator can define multiple multicast address ranges.

Note that default resource pools such device-specific VLAN pools are also created automatically when ToR switches are added to the inventory.

You can also specify global VNI pool range and device-specific VLAN pool range.

You can edit the range and also delete any unused ranges.

This section has the following topics:

Specifying Global VNI Pool Range

You can specify the global VNI pool range. To do this:

Step 1   Go to Resource Pools > Global VNI Pool. The Global VNI Pool window is displayed.
Step 2   Click the + icon. Specify the ranges, and click Save.

To edit or delete a row, select the check box, and click the edit or delete icon, as required.

    Specifying VLAN Pool Range

VLAN pool needs to be created for all the ToRs. To do this:

    Note

We recommend that you check the supported VLAN pool range for the device, and also take note of the reserved VLAN range.

Step 1   Go to Resource Pools > Device Specific VLAN Pools. The Device Specific VLAN Pools window appears.
Step 2   Click the + icon. The Add Range pop up appears.
Step 3   Enter the Device details, and specify the From and To values.

The device name should match the ToR name in the inventory. From is VLAN start number and To is VLAN end number to be used for the ToR.

      Step 4   Click OK.

To delete a row, select the row and click the delete icon.

      Specifying Multicast IP Pool

You can specify the IP range. The range must be within the multicast IP address range configured on ToRs via day-0 configuration file. You must verify the administratively scoped Multicast address pool for your network.

Step 1   Go to Resource Pools > Multicast IP Pool. The Multicast IP Pool window appears.
Step 2   Click the + icon, and enter the values.
        Step 3   Click Save.
