Trunk VLAN

The Trunk VLAN feature enables you to configure virtual LAN on your Remote PHY Shelf 7200 device.

Each Remote PHY Shelf 7200 device has six uplink ports. Each upink port has two VLAN modes—access mode and trunk mode. Access mode is the default mode.

Each port can be configured in a different VLAN mode. However, if you want to configure link redundancy, all ports must be configured in the same mode.

In the trunk mode, ingress and egress packets have VLAN tags. In the access mode, packets do not have VLAN tags.

Configure Trunk VLAN

To configure trunk vlan, follow these steps.

HA-FCC# configure terminal
HA-FCC(config)# trunk vlan vlan_id slot slot_id erpd erpd_index
Table 2. Syntax Description

vlan_id

ID for the IEEE 802.1Q Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) that should be used to tag the frames for this cable modem. The range is 2–4094.

slot_id

Slot number of the line card. The slot ID can be 0–5 and 7–12.

erpd_index

Specify the erpd. The erpd index is typically 0–5.

This example shows how to configure trunk VLAN.

HA-FCC(config)# trunk vlan 423 slot 12 erpd 0

eRPD trunk vlan configured successfully.

Verify Trunk VLAN Configuration

To view the trunk VLAN configuration, follow these steps.

show trunk vlan

This is an example of verifying trunk VLAN configuration.

HA-FCC# show trunk vlan
Slot eRPD VLAN
12 0 423
12 1 423
12 2 423
12 3 423
12 4 423

To view the trunk VLAN ID, slot number, and the erpd number, run the show run | se trunk or the show startup-config | se trunk command.

FCC# show run | se trunk
trunk vlan 423 slot 12 erpd 0
trunk vlan 423 slot 12 erpd 1
trunk vlan 423 slot 12 erpd 2
trunk vlan 423 slot 12 erpd 3
trunk vlan 423 slot 12 erpd 4

FCC# show startup-config | sec trunk
trunk vlan 423 slot 1 erpd 0
trunk vlan 423 slot 1 erpd 1
trunk vlan 423 slot 1 erpd 2
