Products Affected
FRSM-HS1 (AX-FRSM-HS1) equipped with either the X.21 Line Module (AX-DB15-4X21) or the HSSI Line Module (AX-SCSI2-2HSSI).
Problem Description
When a cable is disconnected and reconnected to an active port on the FRSM-HS1, the FRSM-HS1 can reset because of serial lead transitions.
Bug Details
This field notice refers to bug CSCdj79360.

Problem Symptoms
When an HSSI or X.21 cable is disconnected then reconnected to any of the active serial ports on the FRSM-HS1, the FRSM-HS1 may reset, which interrupts all data transmitted over that card for a short period of time. The reset is recorded in the AXIS Event log and on the HP Openview® Event Browser.
Solution
The fix for the FRSM-HS1 reset is in AXIS firmware 4.0.07. This firmware is available in CCO's Software Center (registered customers only) .
Workaround
Until firmware 4.0.07 is loaded, it is recommended that the following steps be taken if a cable needs to be moved from one FRSM-HS1 port to another:
-
Delete the connections.
-
Deactivate the port.
-
Connect the cable to the new port.
-
Activate the new port.
-
Add the connections to the new port.
