Problem Description
The MPSM-16-T1E1 metal EMI gasket may detach from the edge of the linecard during Online Insertion and Removal (OIR), causing an adjacent card to fail.
Only MPSM-16-T1E1 800-22339-08 are suspect.
Background
The MPSM-16-T1E1 metal EMI gasket failure was determined to be caused by a suspect gasket rework process at a downstream supplier. Due to the suspect rework process, the gasket may lose adhesion and come off when inserted or removed from the chassis. To date, less than 1% of the field population has experienced this failure.
All new versions of the product (800-22339-11 A0 and later) correct the problem by incorporating a faceplate assembly with a new EMI gasket which is applied by the original faceplate supplier.
Problem Symptoms
MPSM-16-T1E1 VERSION 800-22339-08 EMI gasket detaches.
