Problem Description
If a user attempts to run field diagnostics on a Clock Scheduler Card (CSC) or Switch Fabric Card (SFC) fabric card that resides in a OC192 capable Cisco 12000 router, the user will receive a banner that indicates that the card is not supported.
If a user attempts to run field diagnostics on a CSC or SFC fabric card that is on a OC48 capable Cisco 12000 router, the router may reload.
Background
Customers who suspect problems with their fabric cards, CSC or SFC, will be unable to run diagnostics succesfully on their router. In the case of 2.5Gig fabric configurations, router behavior may be unpredictable in releases between 12.0(22)S and 12.0(25)S.
Problem Symptoms
Running field diags on CSC or SFC in Cisco 12000 OC192 capable routers was not supported between IOS releases 12.0(22)S and 12.0(25)S.
Workaround/Solution
IOS releases 12.0(26)S and higher will allow customers to run field diags on CSC and SFC cards within a Cisco 12404, 12406, 12410, or 12416.
Customers who do not want to upgrade their IOS release should not run field diags on CSC or SFC cards if they reside in a 10Gig fabric based Cisco 12404, 12406, 12410, or 12416.
