Problem Description
Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) may be become trapped in cycling mode when going through the various stages of training.
Background
The continuous cycling mode loop problem was discovered with 677 CPE. However, it may surface with other CPE as well.
Problem Symptoms
Customers affected by this issue will observe the CPE endlessly cycling through the various training modes. The show dsl interface x/y command will verify if the CPE is trapped in a cycle.
The unit will cycle through the training stages: NO CPE DETECTED to TRAINING to TRAINED. The CPE will then hold train for ~8-10 seconds before returning to the NO CPE DETECTED stage and continuing through the cycle. The downstream margin may also be reported as 0db during this time.
A shut/no shut of the port through IOS will not recover this situation.
Workaround/Solution
This problem is resolved in Cisco IOS® Release 12.2(5)DA.
