Problem Description
The first 2500 Cisco 6260 DC PEMs shipped from Cisco (with systems or as spares) were shipped with an incorrect CLEI Code label. The CLEI Code number that appears on the approximately 2500 PEMs shipped with systems from MFG is BMP1D00CAA. The correct CLEI Code is DMP1D00CAA.
Problem Symptoms
A search for BMP1D00CAA in the CLEI Database will return no matches for this Cisco product.
Background
The CLEI code for 34-0938-01 is correct in the CLEI database, as well as on the BOM for the 34-0938-01 - that is, it is documented as DMP1D00CAA. It would appear as though this problem occured at the CMS and in their process to extract the CLEI code from the ref des field on the BOM to the actual programming of the label.
Workaround/Solution
A label with the correct CLEI Code for the 6260-1-PEM-DC has been produced. Cisco will proactively ship to each customer reflected in our database as recieving a mis-labeled DC-PEM, the correct number of labels to correct on each device along with instruction on where and how to place the label.
The labels have been corrected in Manufacturing and have been shipping corrected since June 1, 2000.
