Problem Description
A limited quantity of PA-VXC--2TE1= cards were shipped to previously informed customers with a known hardware performance limitation. The hardware performance limitation was caused by a design defect in which one of the thirty Domain Specific Part (DSP) components was not usable, resulting in a three percent reduction in call handling capacity. Customers were informed that the revision A0 and B0 cards could be returned for replacement when updated cards were available.
Background
Revision -A0 and -B0 PA-VXC-2TE1= cards were shipped at customers' requests only after the customers had been informed of the hardware performance limitation.
Some -A0 PA-VXC-2TE1= cards were reworked under Deviation # D00-5132 to correct the hardware limitation and were labeled on the card with the Deviation number. A small quantity of -A0 cards were also reworked under RCN E001586 and changed to revision -C0.
PA-VXC-2TE1= cards with Deviation # D00-5132 or Revision -C0 are not affected by this Field Replacement program.
PA-VXC-2TE1= cards shipped after Feb 15, 2000, are not affected by the Field Replacement program.
Problem Symptoms
The Revision -A0/-B0 PA-VXC-2TE1= hardware limitation reduces the call handling capacity of the card by a small amount, but does not otherwise affect the card's proper operation or function.
Workaround/Solution
All Revision -A0/-B0 PA-VXC-2TE1= cards can be exchanged for updated cards using the standard Return Materials Authorization (RMA) procedure.
