Problem Description
|
A defect in the 6100-ST-2-IO-DS3= can cause transient DS3 errors to occur. |
Background |
Cisco engineering discovered an impedance problem with the Cisco 6100 Subtend I/O card (6100-ST-2-IO-DS3=). This resulted in a small amount of DS3 line errors. Cisco engineering has corrected this issue. The resulting change to the impedance level on the Cisco 6100 Subtend I/O card needs to be matched to both the Cisco 6100 I/O card and the Cisco 6100 Subtend line card. Customers will need to use these cards as a matched set or more DS3 errors will be seen. |
Problem Symptoms |
Line errors may be observed on the DS3 line. This can cause higher layer protocols to retransmit packets. Most users will not observe any slow down in traffic since the DS3 error rate is very small. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Workaround/Solution |
The problem has no workaround. Cisco engineering has developed a revised Subtending I/O board that corrects this defect. An upgrade program was made available to resolve this issue. The upgrade replacement program has expired.
Upgrade orders were fulfilled with cards at the stated revision or later.
