Problem Description
Network Processor Module (NPM) bootcode does not load properly until the NPM is physically powered down and then powered back up. The power cycle may be accomplished by either reseating the NPM or turning the IGX-8400 node off and then back on.
Problem Symptoms
After burning the NPM firmware to the NPM and executing switchcc, the network operator will observe the following display using the dspcd 1|2 command:

Note that after NPM in slot 1 reaches standby, Revision is still "BVP" instead of "BVR".

Background
NPM bootcode upgrade may be required as IGX-8400 networks are upgraded to later versions of software. It is important to upgrade NPM bootcode properly in order to maximize IGX-8400 stability and performance.
Workaround/Solution
Solution
The NPM should be "downed" by using dncd slot_number command first. Then, the NPM should be physically reseated. This defect has Cisco bug ID CSCdm21875. If you are a registered CCO user and you have logged in, you can view the bug details.
A second, less desirable method is to power cycle the IGX-8400 node.
After reseating the NPM, use the dspcd 1|2 or dspcds command to verify that the proper version of bootcode is loaded:
