Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML) is a standard markup language, similar to HTML that extends Web applications and provides the basis for new applications that interface the Web, wireless devices, and the telephone. Cisco is enabling the advance of new communications services with VoiceXML, driving the integration of customer communication channels into a single platform running on an IP network.
With intellectual resources that span the disciplines of packet voice, dial, and core data networks, Cisco has integrated support for VoiceXML into Cisco IOS Software for the Cisco AS5000 family of universal gateways and Cisco 3600 Series multiservice routers. These new network capabilities enable service providers and enterprises to expand their portfolio of revenue-generating services without incurring large capital expenditures.
