Compact High-Performance VPN Blade

The Cisco VPN Internal Service Module (VPN ISM) is a compact, versatile high-performance VPN blade for the Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2 (ISR G2). It provides up to three times better performance for IPsec VPN encrypted traffic.

The VPN ISM multicore processor operates independently of other ISR G2 resources. This helps to ensure maximum concurrent VPN performance while maintaining performance for other business-critical branch router services.

The Cisco VPN acceleration module supports the latest encryption standards, including stronger National Security Agency (NSA) regulated encryption algorithms such as SUITE-B. Next-generation cryptography helps you provide strong data authentication and confidentiality, entity authentication services, and anti-replay services across branch office sites.

The Cisco VPN ISM acceleration module is:

• Ready to use, allowing quick and easy installation to increase VPN encryption performance on Cisco ISR G2 routers
• Compatible with all Cisco ISR G2 routers that support the ISM card slot and runs the same level of functions as found on the Cisco ISR G2

The module integrates all elements necessary to optimize IT infrastructure for delivery of encrypted application data and deployment of branch office applications, housing them under a single chassis: the Cisco ISR G2
