New Memory Options for the Catalyst 8500/LightStream 1010 Product Family
Introduction
This product bulletin describes new memory options for the Catalyst 8500/LightStream 1010 family including a new 16MB SIMM (Single In-Line Memory Module) memory upgrade option and the availability of Catalyst 8540 PC flash cards with the latest 8540 software image pre-loaded.16MB SIMM Upgrade
During Q4CY99, the Catalyst 8540/8510 Route Processors and LightStream 1010 ATM Switch Processors began shipping with 16MB of SIMM memory to accommodate a larger software image size. Systems shipped prior to Q4CY99 have an 8MB bootflash memory. For the installed base with 8MB of SIMM memory, a memory upgrade (C85-SIMM-16MB=) can now be ordered. Now available is the ability to order a 20MB PC flash card with the latest Catalyst 8540 software image pre-loaded. SMARTnet Customers
Update
SMARTnet™ customers are entitled to a software update, which is described as a new release version of the customer last-purchased feature set. For customers wanting increased functionality, an upgrade to the new feature set will be required.Upgrade
Cisco helps SMARTnet customers get upgrades quickly through CCO. If customers are upgrading from one feature set to another, they must place an order for the purchase of the appropriate Technology Use or Feature Licenses before downloading the software.Non-SMARTnet Customers
Upgrades
