End-of-Sales Announcement for Select Catalyst 5000 Modules

In an effort to simplify ordering of the Catalyst® 5000 Family of products, Cisco Systems Workgroup Business Unit is announcing the End of Sales (EOS) of some of the older Catalyst 5000 modules. These older Catalyst 5000 modules have equivalent replacement modules within the Catalyst 5000 Family. This bulletin announces the EOS for the following Catalyst 5000 Family members:

1 If using WS-X5234-RJ45, WS-X5236-FX-MT, or WS-X5237-FX-MT in a single Supervisor Engine II configuration, a minimum of 5.5(3) or 4.5(9) software is required. If this is a problem, WS-X5225R and WS-X5201R can be used as replacement products.

The recommended replacement products offer the customers numerous benefits, including:

•Enabling migration toward an Integrated Data, Video, and Audio Architecture

Also, the software upgrades required for the majority of replacement products, 4.X, have been in General Deployment (GD) for over half a year and provide a stable software platform for the customers.
