Overview
Cisco Systems' Workgroup Business Unit is announcing End of Life (EOL) for the Catalyst® 5000 Family Supervisor Engine III base model (WS-X5530-E1).All other existing and announced Supervisor Engine III models will remain orderable and continue as part of the Catalyst 5000 Family.

The Technology Migration Program includes attractive upgrades to newer technology for the Supervisor Engine III base model. Later Supervisor Engine III versions offer increased performance at an equivalent or lower price. Additionally, WS-X5530-E1 may be upgraded by adding NFFC or NFFC II. Software Support
Supervisor Engine III base model (WS-X5530-E1) will be supported in Catalyst 5000 software release through the 5.x train. It will not be supported in subsequent software releases after 5.x train.
