End-of-Life Announcement for Catalyst 5000 AC Power Supply

Overview

Cisco Systems' Workgroup Business Unit is announcing the end of life (EOL) of the following Catalyst® 5000 AC power supply:

After July 20, 1998, orders for the above power supply should be replaced with the WS-C5008B power supply:

Orders for the Catalyst 5000 chassis placed after July 20, 1998 will be configured with the WS-C5008B power supply.

The WS-C5008B power supply has the same form, fit, and function as the WS-5008A and can be substituted for the "A" version in all situations. "A" and "B" power supplies can be used together in redundant configurations. The only difference with the "B" version is its ability to handle more current than theWS-C5008A; this increase is required for the Catalyst 5505 with Supervisor III.

Ordering Information for LightStream 1010

After July 20, 1998, orders for the LightStream® 1010 AC power supply will have the same part numbers as before:

A WS-C5008B power supply will be shipped when the above power supplies are ordered.

The WS-C5008B power supply has the same form, fit, and function as the L1010-PWR-AC and can substitute for L1010-PWR-AC in all situations. L1010-PWR-AC and WS-C5008B can be used together in redundant configurations. The only difference with the WS-C5008B is its ability to handle more current than L1010-PWR-AC.

Ordering Information for Catalyst 8510

After July 20, 1998, orders for the Catalyst 8510 AC power supply will have the same part number as before:
