Catalyst 2900 Series XLCisco is announcing the End-of-Sale of Fixed Configuration Catalyst® 2900 Series XL Switches, including respective Multi-Pack units, as per the descriptions and schedule detailed below. All impacted products are being replaced by the recently launched Catalyst 2950 Series, which offer superior functionality at the same price. The last order date for the affected products is October 31, 2001. Please advise and transition all existing and potential customers of these products to the Catalyst 2950 Series, as per the replacement matrix given below.

This announcement does NOT affect the Modular Configuration of the Catalyst 2900 Series XL (WS-C2924M-XL-EN, WS-C2924M-XL-EN-DC, WS-C2912MF-XL) or the Expansion Modules (WS-X2914-XL-V, WS-X2922-XL-V, WS-X2924-XL-V, WS-X2931-XL, WS-X2932-XL, WS-X2951-XL, WS-X2961-XL, WS-X2971-XL, WS-X2972-XL) for this platform. These products will continue to be manufactured, sold and supported by Cisco until further notice.

Easy and powerful upgrade to Gigabit Ethernet (an upsell opportunity for you!)—Midmarket customers previously deploying Fast Ethernet backbones can now move to Gigabit Ethernet in the backbone for just 10-percent incremental price/port with the Catalyst 2950T-24 (24 10/100 and two 10/100/1000 ports) using existing Category 5 wiring.

Enhanced Cisco IOS Services including sophisticated QoS and IGMP Snooping—Catalyst 2950 Series Switches deliver a full Layer 2 QoS feature set with four egress queues, Weighted Round Robin (WRR) scheduling and Strict Priority Scheduling, with an ability to classify/reclassify CoS.

Performance—The Catalyst 2950 Series is a family of wire-speed switches, with 8.8 Gbps switching fabric and maximum forwarding rate of 6.6 million packets per second.
