End-of-Life Announcement for Catalyst 2900 Fast Ethernet Switching System (Catalyst 2901 and Catalyst 2902)

Overview

The Cisco Systems Workgroup Business Unit is announcing the end of life (EOL) of the Catalyst® 2900 Fast Ethernet Switching System which consists of the Catalyst 2901 and Catalyst 2902 products.

Migration

In order to facilitate the EOL process, two replacement options are available for each product. These options should be substituted for Catalyst 2901 and Catalyst 2902 orders as soon as possible, as they represent a significant increase in value to the customer.

The replacement options for the Catalyst 2901 offer the same functionality, including Inter-Switch Link (ISL) on every port. In addition, it includes a total of 26 ports (an increase of 12 ports) and has the added benefit of modularity. The current list price of either configuration represents a significant reduction in cost per port.

The replacement options for the Catalyst 2902 also offer the same functionality, including ISL on every port. They have the same port count (12+2). Their current list prices, however, represent a substantial savings versus the Catalyst 2902.
