Cisco Systems announces the immediate end of sale (EOS) for the DC power Catalyst 2948GL3-DC switch. Because of the unavailability of DC power supplies, new orders cannot be accepted. Booked orders will be fulfulled. This bulletin does not affect the AC power version, Catalyst 2948G-L3. This bulletin announces the EOS for the following Catalyst 2948GL3-DC product.

Catalyst 2948GL3-DC Description
The Cisco Catalyst 2948GL3-DC switch is the DC power version of the Catalyst 2948G-L3 switch. It is a fixed configuration Layer 3 Ethernet switch featuring wire-speed switching for Internet Protocol (IP), Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX), and IP multicast. The switch supports all the routing protocols used in today's midsized networks. It supports additional protocols for scalable, reliable networks and features such as quality of service (QoS), security, CiscoWorks2000, and EtherChannel. It has 48 10/100-Mbps Ethernet ports and two 1000BASEX Gigabit Ethernet with modular GBIC ports. The chassis is 1.5 rack units.

Replacement Product Information
The recommended replacement products are the AC power version of the Catalyst 2948G-L3 switch, and the DC power version of the Cisco Catalyst 4000 Series. Third-party AC-DC inverters are a non-Cisco product alternative. The following table lists the replacement product numbers.
