Is the port administratively disabled?
If the "Ring Status" LED is off, that Token Ring or FDDI port is disabled.
To verify that the port is administratively disabled:
- From the Main Menu, enter the con phy command.
- At the prompt, enter the number of the problem port and the Configure Physical Ports menu is displayed.
- To check the port status, enter con phy [x] state, where "x" is the port number. If the state of the port is "disabled", the port is administratively disabled.
- Token Ring port - RJ-45 (Category 3 or 5 UTP) or IBM STP (Type 1) cables
- Token Ring port on FDDI Uplink option - Direct Attach cable shipped with unit
- FDDI port - multimode fiber with a MIC connector (for connections up to 2 km long), or singlemode fiber with an ST connector (for connections longer than 2 km)
- From the Main Menu, enter the con phy command
- At the prompt, enter the number of the problem port and the Configure Physical Ports menu is displayed.
- To change the port state, enter con phy [x] state, where "x" is the port number.
- At the system prompt, enter Enable and press Return.
- From the Main Menu, enter c i.
- Press Return and the IP Parameters Menu is displayed.
- Enter a port number or "0"
- The IP address is the current IP address for the domain.
- From the Main Menu, enter c i.
- Press Return and the IP Parameters Menu is displayed.
- Enter a port number or "0"
- The IP address is the current IP address for the domain.
- You can set the IP address, default gateway address, and IP subnet mask from this menu.
How do I check the subnet mask on the switch and reconfigure it?
- From the Main Menu, enter c i 0.
- Press Return and the IP Parameters Menu is displayed.
- Enter a port number or "0"
- Select Display. The "Subnet Mask" field contains the current IP subnet mask.
- To change the subnet mask parameter for all ports, from the Configuring IP Parameters Menu, enter "0."
- From the Main Menu, enter c i 0.
- Press Return and the IP Parameters Menu is displayed.
- Enter a port number or "0"
- Select Display. The "Subnet Mask" field contains the current IP subnet mask.
- To change the subnet mask parameter for all ports, from the Configuring IP Parameters Menu, enter "0."
- From the Main Menu, enter c i.
- Press Return and the IP Parameters Menu is displayed.
- Enter a port number or "0"
- Select Display. The IP Parameters Menu is displayed, and the current gateway settings display.
- From the Main Menu, enter c i.
- Press Return and the IP Parameters Menu is displayed.
- Enter a port number or "0"
- You can set the IP address, default gateway address, and IP subnet mask from this menu.
