Cisco® Aironet® 1500 Series solution components can be ordered by individual part numbers. Alternatively, for ease of ordering, you can specify a single part number that expands to include certain components relevant to a particular installation. Note that for a safety-compliant outdoor installation, you may need other items that are not included in the bundle, such as surge arrestors.
Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Lightweight Outdoor Mesh Access Points can take either of two roles in a mesh network: rooftop access point and pole top access point. Different accessories are required for the different installations.
Minimally, the access point requires the following:
• Power
• One 2.4-GHz antenna
• One 5-GHz antenna
If the access point is to be installed on a streetlight pole or equivalent, the following is also required:
• One pole-mount kit
If the access point is to be installed on a roof, where it will be wired to the network, the following is also required:
• One Ethernet cable
A pole-mount kit might also be required for installation on a roof, depending on the installation method.
The rest of this ordering guide lists the part numbers for the various components of the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series solution.

The Cisco Aironet 1500 Series is certified for use only in certain countries. The part number distinguishes the regulatory domain for which it is designed. Customers are responsible for verifying approval for use in their country. To verify approval and to identify the regulatory domain that corresponds to a particular country, please visit: http://www.cisco.com/go/aironet/compliance.
Note that the part number does not distinguish between a rooftop or pole-top access point. The same device is used for either instance, with the role being configured in software.
Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Lightweight Outdoor Mesh Access Points ship with the following:
• Universal mounting plate
• Quick Start Guide
The universal mounting plate allows users to install the access point on a flat surface, such as a wall. It is also used in conjunction with the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Pole-Mount Kit (listed next) to mount the access point to a pole.
Customers must provide the appropriate screws, bolts, and anchors for the material into which they will mount the access point. See the hardware installation guide for details.
Pole-Mount Kit
The pole-mount kit is used to mount the access point to a pole. It is used along with the universal mounting plate, which ships with the access point. Table 2 shows the part number for the pole-mount kit.

The Cisco Aironet 1500 Series can be powered either by local AC power or by DC power over Ethernet.
• Power supplied at the top of streetlight poles is AC power. Use the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Streetlight Power Tap or the AC power cord to plug the access point into this power source.
• When a Cisco Aironet 1500 Series access point is installed on the roof of a building, power can be supplied over Ethernet using a power injector. The power injector converts AC power into DC power and sends it along with the Ethernet signal to the access point. Use the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Power Injector, along with the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Outdoor Ethernet Cable (described next) to power the access point. Do not use any power injector other than the one specified here. You will need to specify the country-specific power cord with the power injector.
Ethernet Cable
The Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Outdoor Ethernet Cable is used to connect the access point to the network when a network connection is available, such as when the access point is installed on the roof of a building. The Ethernet cable plugs into the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Power Injector. Table 4 shows the part number for the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Outdoor Ethernet Cable.
