Cisco announces the end-of- Availability for the Cisco TAPI Wave Driver. The last release train which includes the affected product(s) is Unified Communication Manager Release 8.X. Unified Communication Manager 9.0(1) and later will not include the Cisco TAPI Wave Driver. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected feature(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For Developer Partners with active and paid developer service support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in Table 1.

Develop Partners are encouraged to adopt support for the Cisco TAPI Media Driver introduced in Unified Communication Manager 8.0(1) (released March 2010), which provides like or better functionality. Unified Communications Manager 8.X will be the last release train which will include the Cisco TAPI Wave Driver.

TAPI Media driver allows applications to interact with the media layer of a call. TAPI Media Driver runs independent of the Windows OS kernel offering better scalability and additional codec support

TAPI Wave and Media Drivers are bundled in the Cisco TSP Client available as a downloadable plug-in from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web page
