Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for selected Cisco® Catalyst® 6500 Series 10- and 100-Mbps Ethernet fiber-based line cards. The last day to order the affected products is June 15, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until June 15, 2011.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco Catalyst 6500 48-port 100BASE-X interface module, which offers a higher-density, cost-effective solution for 100BASE-X connectivity in the access and distribution layer, and metropolitan (metro) access deployments. This interface module also offers customers flexibility to combine different optics, and maximizes their investment protection by providing support for modular, Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics. Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating to replacement products. Table 4 provides information on minimum and recommended software requirements for the replacement products.
