Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco Dual-Width OC-12c/STM-4 Dynamic Packet Transport (DPT) port adapter supported on the Cisco® 7500 and 7200 Series routers and Cisco uBR7246VXR Universal Broadband Router. The last day to order the port adapter is July 15, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until July 15, 2010. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected port adapter. Table 2 lists the product numbers affected by this announcement.
There is no migration path to support OC-12c/STM-4 DPT on the Cisco 7500 and 7200 Series routers or on the Cisco uBR7246VXR Universal Broadband Router. Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco 10720 Router, which supports OC-48c/STM-16 DPT. The Cisco 10720 is a principle building block in the next-generation metro IP network. The Cisco 10720 Router enables service providers to offer innovative and differentiated IP services to their customers at optical speeds. Equipped with Ethernet technology for customer access and DPT technology for metro optical connectivity, the Cisco 10720 allows service providers to offer IP services closer to the user, enabling them to better control admission to network resources.
