Cisco WAN Manager

Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50

PRODUCT BULLETIN NO.

Cisco Systems® announces the Cisco® WAN Manager Release 15.1.50 offering new features to support the latest versions of the Cisco MGX® Family, Cisco BPX® Family, and Cisco IGX Family of multiservice switches and voice gateways.

Cisco WAN Manager is an intelligent element management system (EMS) for the Cisco MGX, BPX, and IGX families of products. It operates as a standalone network management system or can be integrated as an element manager. Cisco WAN Manager offers a robust, scalable, and easy-to-use set of management tools for today's multiservice networks.
Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 inherits the functions of Cisco WAN Manager 15.0.00 and Cisco WAN Manager 15.0.00 Patch 4.

Table 1. New Features in Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50

Feature

Description

Cisco MGX Private Network-Network Interface (PNNI) Current Path Data Synchronization

A new Cisco WAN Manager script to start resynchronization of the connection information with a node or with the managed network. The current route data and preferred route status are parsed into new Cisco WAN Manager database tables. Another new Cisco WAN Manager script is provided to generate a current route report from the database that the user can use after data parsing is completed.

Cisco MGX New Hardware Support

This includes the MPSM-16-T1E1 service module for the Cisco MGX 8850 Multiservice Switch with PXM45 and Cisco MGX 8850/8830 with PXM1-E switches, and the new Cisco MGX 8850/B chassis which can be used with PXM45/C, SRME/B, AXSM-16-155-XG, AXSM-2-622-E, AXSM-16-T3E3-E, MPSM-8-T1E1, MPSM-T3E3-155, for MPSM-16-T1E1 1:N redundancy using the RCON and 1:N back cards.

RPM-PR And RPM-XF Back Card Interface Status

New traps from the Cisco MGX Software 5.1 for RPM-PR and RPM-XF back card interface status are supported and reflected in the Cisco WAN Manager GUI and northbound interface.

Automated Bulk Provisioning (ABP)

Optional script-based interface for bulk connections provisioning inherited from previous Service Activator software. Additional support connection provisioning for Cisco MGX 8850 PXM1E and MPSM-8-T1E1 are included in ABP. There is an additional scheduled connection provisioning capability using Cisco WAN Manager GUI when this optional module is installed.

Cisco Voice Interworking Service Module (VISM) Software 3.3.10 Support

Historical statistics collection using FTP was supported by Cisco WAN Manager 15.0.00 P4. In this release the other new VISM 3.3.10 MIB is supported by Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50. The additional features include the real-time statistics retrieval for ATM port, clock slips, cells per second (CPS) per connections, bearer IP Ping. For the configuration of Cisco VISM Software, the new capabilities include PVC priority bumping, call rate throttle control, and Trap filtering.

Sun Solaris 9 and Informix 9.4

The Cisco WAN Manager embedded database is refreshed with Informix 9.4. The Cisco WAN Manager 15.1 software is certified to run on Solaris 9 and 8. However, Solaris 9 should be preferred for new installation and customer certification because Solaris 8 end of shipment is anticipated.

UPGRADE PATHS

Customers without Software Application Support plus Upgrades (SASU) contracts can purchase Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 using upgrade part numbers in Table 2.
Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 can be gracefully upgraded from previous releases of Cisco WAN Manager 12.0 and 15.0. To upgrade from older releases than release 12 or from release 15.1.00, customers must re-enter any Cisco WAN Manager user data they need.

EXISTING CISCO WAN MANAGER 9.X CUSTOMERS

Customers who have been using Cisco WAN Manager 9.x and prior releases who want to use Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 have two options depending on whether they used the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Service Agent in Cisco WAN Manager 9.x.
Cisco WAN Manager 9.x customers who use the Service Agent currently to interface with their other Operations Support Systems should order the Cisco WAN Manager and SNMP Service Agent Major Upgrade. Cisco WAN Manager 9.x customers who do not use the Service Agent need to only purchase the Cisco WAN Manager Server Major Upgrade.

EXISTING CISCO WAN MANAGER 10.X, 11.X, AND 12.X CUSTOMERS

Customers who have been using Cisco WAN Manager 10.x, 11.x, and 12.x and want to use Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 should order the Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 Major Upgrade. All Cisco WAN Manager components being used should be upgraded as well for consistency and compatibility with Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50. If customers have standalone versions of the Statistics Collector/Manager, WANDEST, Network Modeling Tool, and SNMP Service Agent, these components should be upgraded as well when the Cisco WAN Manager Server is upgraded to 15.1.50 . The SNMP Service Agent 15.1.50, Standalone Statistics Collector/Manager 15.1.50, WANDEST 2.6.50, and the Network Modeling Tool 15.1.50 should be used with Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50.

EXISTING CISCO WAN MANAGER 15.0 CUSTOMERS

Similarly, customers who have been using Cisco WAN Manager 15.0 and want to use Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 should order the Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 Minor Upgrade.
When ordering these minor upgrades, the customer has the option to purchase either the Software Application Support (SAS) or SAS plus Upgrades (SASU) support programs offered if they had not done so when Cisco WAN Manager 9.x, 10.x, 11.x, 12.x, or 15.0 was originally purchased and licensed.

A 45-Day Evaluation software for Cisco WAN Manager 15.1.50 will be made available for ordering in the online Ordering Tool along with all CWM products. in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/ordering/index.shtml
