Cisco EnergyWise and Catalyst 4500 Switches
Catalyst 4500 series switches support the Cisco EnergyWise features and functions described in this guide. This appendix describes the Catalyst 4500 switch-specific EnergyWise functions and configuration.
For Catalyst 4500 switches running EnergyWise Version 2.6 and later, note the guidelines for these features:

For high availability
–To perform an In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU) downgrade from a Cisco IOS release supporting EnergyWise Version 2.6 to an earlier software release that does not support EnergyWise, disable EnergyWise on the switch first.
–To perform an ISSU downgrade from a software release supporting EnergyWise Version 2.6 to a release supporting EnergyWise Version 1, disable EnergyWise on the switch first because of CLI compatibility issues between EnergyWise Version 1 and EnergyWise Version 2.6.
–To perform an ISSU downgrade from a Cisco IOS release supporting EnergyWise Version 2.6 to an earlier release that does not support EnergyWise, you must remove the snmp-server enable traps energywise global configuration command from the switch configuration.
–During an ISSU upgrade from a software release supporting EnergyWise Version 1 to a release supporting EnergyWise Version 2.6, the EnergyWise settings in the running configuration are updated. The switch sets the management password to the same domain password as in the energywise domain command. You must enter the copy running-config startup-config privileged EXEC command to save the EnergyWise settings in the configuration file.
•For stateful switchover (SSO) mode
–On a redundant chassis operating in SSO mode, the energywise neighbor hostname udp-port-number global configuration command does not work. Use the energywise neighbor ip-address udp-port-number global configuration command to specify the IP address of the host.
Note If your switch is running EnergyWise Version 2.6, enter the no energywise domain global configuration command to disable EnergyWise before downgrading your software to a release supporting EnergyWise Version 1.
