Policy Feature Card Guidelines and Restrictions
•
The PFC3 supports a theoretical maximum of 64,000 MAC addresses (32,000 MAC addresses recommended maximum).
•
You cannot use one type of PFC3 (PFC3BXL or PFC3B) on one supervisor engine and a different type on the other supervisor engine for redundancy. You must use identical policy feature cards for redundancy.
•
Enter the show platform hardware pfc mode command to display the PFC3 mode.
•
Enter the show platform earl-mode command to display the PFC3 mode.
•
PFC3B—These restrictions apply to a configuration with a PFC3B and these DFCs:
–
PFC3B and DFC3B—No restrictions.
–
PFC3B and DFC3BXL—The PFC3B restricts DFC3BXL functionality: after a reload with a DFC3BXL-equipped module installed, the DFC3BXL functions as a DFC3B.
•
PFC3BXL—These restrictions apply to a configuration with a PFC3BXL and these DFCs:
–
PFC3BXL and DFC3B—PFC3BXL functionality is restricted by the DFC3B: after a reload with a DFC3B-equipped module installed (whether powered up or down), the PFC3BXL functions as a PFC3B.
–
PFC3BXL and DFC3BXL—No restrictions.
•
The features that require the PFC3BXL or PFC3B are not supported in PFC3A mode (see the Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 12.2SR on the Cisco 7600 Series Routers).
•
To use DFC3B-equipped switching modules with a PFC3BXL, the DFC3B-equipped switching modules must be installed at bootup.

OSM Guidelines and Restrictions
•
CT3/T1 Channelized/Unchannelized
Note
From 12.2(33) SRE onwards, OSMs are not supported on 7600 routers. For more information on EOS, refer http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps368/prod_eol_notice0900aecd8073fdf9.html
OSM Guidelines and Restrictions
•
Supervisor Engine 32 does not support OSMs.
•
OSMs require a minimum of 256 MB of synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM) —Refer to this publication for memory upgrade procedures:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/core/cis7600/hardware/osmodule/app_upgr.htm
•
OSMs are CEF256 modules.
•
OSM WAN port numbering starts with 1.
•
On OSMs with Gigabit Ethernet GBIC Layer 2 LAN ports:
–
OSM LAN port numbering starts with 1.
–
The LAN ports are in a single port group.
•
The OSM-2+4GE-WAN+ and the OC-12 Packet-over-SONET OSMs have been tested with the service modules and WS-SUP720.
•
OSMs are not supported in the Cisco 7604 or in any S-series chassis.

SPA Interface Processors (SIPs)
Note
See the Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 12.2SR on the Cisco 7600 Series Routers for information about additional procedures required to support SIPs with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(33)SRA and later releases.
SIP-400 Combinations
The SIP-400 linecard supports an aggregate forwarding rate of approximately 6 Mpps. Packet forwarding is done by microcode on the network processors so enabling datapath features may reduce performance.
For release 12.2(33)SRA, the total supported bandwidth for the SIP-400 is 4 Gigabits line rate for Ethernet and 2.5 Gigabits line rate for SONET with selected services. There is no oversubscription support. The product ordering tools would prevent combination of SPAs that add up to more than this bandwidth and would reject such configurations.
For release 12.2(33)SRB and above, the following SPA combinations are supported on SIP-400:
•
Any mix of POS, ATM, CEoP and serial SPAs up to an aggregate of OC-48
•
One SPA-2X1GE SPA plus POS, ATM, CEoP, or Serial SPAs up to an aggregate of OC-24
•
Two SPA-2X1GE SPAs
•
Two SPA-5X1GE-V2 SPAs (oversubscribed)
•
One SPA-1X10GE-L-V2 SPA (oversubscribed)
For release 12.2(33)SRD and above, the following SPA combinations are supported on SIP-400:
•
Four SPA-4X1FE-TX-V2
•
Two SPA-8X1FE-TX-V2
Refer to Shared Port Adapters (SPAs) for the minimum release required to support each SPA type.
