WAE Automation combines the smart data collection, modeling, and predictive analytics of Cisco WAE Planning with an extensible, API-driven configuration platform. The use of open APIs and standardized protocols provides a means for intelligent interaction between applications and the network. Applications have visibility into the global network and can make requests for specific service levels.

- WAE Automation Basic provides API-based network modeling. WAE collection makes use of Border Gateway Protocol Link-State (BGP-LS) to actively collect and listen to Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) topology and traffic-engineering state changes. It thus uses Path Computation Element Protocol (PCEP) to present a near real-time view of network topology and deployment.
- WAE Automation Standard includes all the WAE Automation Basic features and API access for advanced optimization and predictive analytics for high-availability support. This is the baseline tier for running WAE applications.
- WAE Automation Premium has all the features in the Basic and Standard models and includes an open API ecosystem that allows running WAE applications. It gives you the added ability to directly access the APIs to write your own applications.
